8th AISSQ Conference on February 1-2, 2014 at Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi
With a central theme of “Serving the Self and Society”, the 8th AISSQ conference was an humble attempt to catalyze and create widespread awareness of science and spirituality in the younger generation. The two-day conference attracted the participation of over 1500 students and faculty members from premier technological institutions like IITs, BHU, NITs, IISc, IIMs and AIIMS from India, and even some scholars from the USA and UK.Prominent researchers, academicians as well as managers of industries from India and abroad delivered about thirty lectures, under the following categories: Quest for the Ultimate Reality; Health, Science, Spirituality and Culture; Mathematics and Spirituality; Spirituality in Education; Consciousness and Life; The Mysteries of the Origin of Life; Administration and Spirituality; Synthesis of Science and Spirituality in Gaudiya Vaishnava School of Vedanta; Spirituality,Environment and Sustainability; Indian History and Culture; Spiritual Economics and Management. Prominent invited speakers were Dr. R.P. Singh, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Guwahati; Dr. Michael A. Cremo, Center for Vedic Science Research,USA; Dr. V. K. Saraswat (Padma Bhushan), Ex-Director General, DRDO and Ex-Advisor to Raksha Mantri; Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Delhi Technological University; Prof. B.M. Hegde (Padma Bhushan), Ex-Vice Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education;Dr. Hector Rosario, Professor, Dept. of Mathematics, University of Puerto Rico ; Dr. Sudipto Ghosh, IIT Kharagpur; Dr. A.K. Mukhopadhyay, AIIMS, New Delhi. Several other eminent speakers from different institutes like IITs, NITs, AIIMS, IISc and other academic and research institutes of repute participated. More than 50 top academic institutions were represented in the conference.
